Importance of praying in the Masjid
Allah invites you to His House 5 times a Day!!!!
On Israa Wal Mir’aj, Allah decreased our Salah, by His Great Mercy from 50 to 5, in order to fit into our needs, and to balance wordly life, with akhirah. Yet, Allah said He will still reward us with what He laid down first. SubhanAllah, how many of us still struggle to keep up with our 5 daily prayers in busy lives. Imagine, if we had to fit in 50, that’s more than 1 prayer an hour. We must always remind ourselves, the proportion of this life, compared to the akhira – it’s not even half a day equivalent. Alongside with that, Allah increased the reward for those that pray in congregation.
It was reported in Al Bukari, a salat offered in congregation is 27 times greater than when prayed alone, and to top that off, it was related in another hadith, (Bukhari) .... Don’t you think that for traces (every step) of yours there is reward (when coming for the 5 compulsory prayers)?. Allah invites you to His House 5 times daily; would we decline the invitation of a dear friend? Allah has created you to worship him alone, and everything He commands us to do, is for the good for our own souls, our community and our akhira.
Prayer in congregation is a beautiful time for the community to integrate, come together, spread the greetings of the Heavens, and spread love. Just contemplate of the pleasure of Allah seeing this. Just for your steps to go to the Masjid, we are rewarded – every step – think of the rewards. Contemplate The Rahma of Allah, He made Jannah for us, any little effort we put towards striving to please Him, Allah rewards you with double.
Many beautiful mosques are being built, but how many are being attended, the numbers are few, except in Jummah. Don’t we feel sad that these mosques are being neglected? We may be busy with our work – by all means we need to earn a good livelihood, but our akhira needs as much attention.
A balance should be maintained, like we need to invest in our future, we need to invest in our akhira – doesn’t cost, just requires love for Allah and the sky’s the limit as to what good deeds you can do.
We should unite and worship Allah as one Ummah, one body - establish this in prayer in congregation, and earn great rewards. Attach your heart to the mosque, as narrated in a hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah (ra), that amongst the 7 persons that Allah will shade on the Day where there will be no shade but His, is a man whose heart is attached to the mosque. Alhamdulila, many blessings entail congregational salat, how oblivious are we to ignore them!
Finally, in another hadith it is narrated that congregational salat is compulsory – Narrated by Abu Hurairah, Allah’s Messenger (saw) said; “By Him in Whose Hand my soul is in, I intended or planned or was about to order collecting fire wood (fuel) and then order someone to pronounce the Adhan for As Salat and then order for someone to lead the Salat then I would go from behind and burn the houses of men who did not present themselves for the Salat….”
Jibreel (as) put a request to Allah that he be from the progeny of Adam (as), but Allah didn’t fulfil this request. Why did Jibreel (as) put this request forward, when punishment isn’t something which is potential for him? Because he had seen what rewards can be gained from the worship of Allah. He had seen what in store for the successful ones.
Listen to the call, and come to success.
